Book Mail!

I just want to start by saying a massive thank you to the amazing publishers and authors who send me advance copies of their books for review. Thank you!

I have received some great books this week so I thought I would share three with you. Book Mail = Happy Toni 🙂

The Colorado Kid by Stephen King

OK, at the risk of going all Annie Wilkes on you, I am the biggest Stephen King fan…..I think I actually squealed when this arrived!

In July Hard Case Crime will be publishing a brand-new illustrated edition of international bestselling author Stephen King’s The Colorado Kid. Written for Hard Case Crime in 2005 and published in the US for a limited 3 year run, bringing it back to bookstores there after more than a 10 year absence, and into them for the first time here in the UK

About The Book

On an island off the coast of Maine, a man is found dead. There’s no identification on the body. Only the dogged work of a pair of local newspapermen and a graduate student in forensics turns up any clues, and it’s more than a year before the man is identified. And that’s just the beginning of the mystery. Because the more they learn about the man and the baffling circumstances of his death, the less they understand. Was it an impossible crime? Or something stranger still…?

A one-of-a-kind mystery as only Stephen King could write, The Colorado Kid is gripping tale about the darkness at the heart of the unknown, and our compulsion to investigate it. All new art work from Mark Edward Geyer, Kate Kelton, Paul Mann, and Mark Summers throughout provide the perfect visual accompaniment to one of King’s most confounding mystery.

This edition will be published on the 2nd July 2019 (UK)

The Girl In Red by Christina Henry

First of all, I am in love with this cover! It is a very beautiful book. This will be my first read from Christina Henry, I cannot wait to get started!

About The Book

It’s not safe for anyone alone in the woods. But the woman in the red jacket has no choice. Not since the Crisis came, decimated the population, and sent those who survived fleeing into quarantine camps that serve as breeding grounds for death, destruction, and disease. She is just a woman trying not to get killed in a world that was perfectly sane and normal until three months ago.

There are worse threats in the woods than the things that stalk their prey at night. Men with dark desires, weak wills, and evil intents. Men in uniform with classified information, deadly secrets, and unforgiving orders. And sometimes, just sometimes, there’s something worse than all of the horrible people and vicious beasts combined.

Red doesn’t like to think of herself as a killer, but she isn’t about to let herself get eaten up just because she is a woman alone in the woods…

How awesome does this sound?!

The Girl In Red is will be published on the 18th June 2019

Thank you to Lydia and Titan Books

Brightfall by Jaime Lee Moyer

I am so excited about this re-imagining of Robin Hood and Maid Marian!

It’s been a mostly quiet life since Robin Hood put aside his pregnant wife Marian, turned his back on his Merry Men and his former life and retreated to a monastery to repent his sins . . . although no one knows what was so heinous he would leave behind Sherwood Forest and those he loved most.

But when friends from their outlaw days start dying, Father Tuck, now the Abbott of St Mary’s, suspects a curse and begs Marian to use her magic to break it. A grieving Marian must bargain for protection for her children before she sets out with a soldier who’s lost his faith, a trickster Fey lord, and a sullen Robin Hood, angry at being drawn back into the real world.

It’s not long before Marian finds herself enmeshed in a maze of secrets and betrayals, tangled relationships and a vicious struggle for the Fey throne.

And if she can’t find and stop the spell-caster, no protection in Sherwood Forest will be enough to save her children.

Brightfall will be published on the 5th September 2019
