Welcome back to Dark Reads. Today I want to talk about You’re Going to Die Here by Y.M Miller.
First off this is an extreme horror Novella so check your trigger warnings if you need to.
In this book we follow 5 characters, each of them have skeletons in their closets and dark things lurking in their pasts. In the first 5 chapters of the book we get to know each of the characters and in a short book I felt that this was done really well.
Each of the characters receive a mysterious invitation in the post saying that they have been nominated and won an all in luxury spa break. Some are a little suspicious and can’t imagine who would have nominated them, but of course, they decide to go anyway!
Once they arrive at the resort, they very quickly realise that this is going to be FAR from a luxury break.
After having something slipped into their welcome drinks they each awake to find themselves in torture rooms, each room has been carefully crafted to fit each of these characters dark pasts.
This book was gruesome, gory and imaginative. Miller does a really good job describing in great detail what was happening to these characters, how they were feeling, what they could see, things they could smell. It was like watching what was happening. It is everything you would expect from the books cover and I loved it!
I don’t want to say too much more as this is short read but this book reads like a cross between The Hostel Movies and the Saw franchise, so if that is your bag, this book is 100% for youl
